Is composed of some 57 churches that dot the landscape of two
beautiful and scenic states, Virginia and West Virginia. Nineteen (19) of these congregations
are in West Virginia and thirty-eight (38) are in Virginia stretching to the west from
Huntington, West Virginia to Virginia Beach in the east, and from Martinsville, Virginia
in the south to Morgantown, West Virginia in the north.
The district headquarters is centrally located in Roanoke, Virginia.
There are approximately 100 individuals serving these churches as pastors or assistant pastors.
Two broad based ministry foci of the Shenandoah District are Missions
and Church Planting. The district was instrumental in establishing missions
work in Guatemala with 8 congregations established when transferred to
our denominational missions organization, Global Partners.
This field has continued to grow. In 2005 we established a partnership with the Indiana
North District to open El Salvador to Wesleyan Missions.
To date the Shenandoah District has brought in the Fellowship One new church in San Salvador
to join with 3 other churches initiated by our Partner District. We have
an overall goal of 20 new congregations including Stateside as
well as mission fields, focusing now on El Salvador.
The operation of this District is the responsibility of the elected
members of the District Board of Administration, made up of laity and
clergy and chaired by the District Superintendent,
Rev. Gregory D. Reynolds.
He is joined by
Rev. Timothy Kirkpatrick, full-time Assistant District
Superintendent. The District organizational team also includes 10 Cluster Leaders,
providing a network of in-the-field service providers.
